Managing my lymphedema. Dedicated daily compliance.
In 1965, Doreen Henriksen began her lymphedema journey, diagnosed with toxemia during pregnancy, leading to chronic swelling. It took 49 years for an official diagnosis from Dr. Rajender Hanmiah, who recommended management steps including moisturization, lymphatic drainage, and compression stockings. Doreen’s daily management routine is extensive, involving exercises, a circulation machine, and assistance from her husband. She advocates for awareness and better care, emphasizing the need for comprehensive support for those affected by lymphedema. Doreen’s story highlights her commitment to living fully despite challenges, promoting understanding and empathy within the lymphedema community, and encouraging advocacy for better healthcare resources.
