Lymphedema/Chronic Edema. What healthcare professionals need to know.
This educational piece about lymphedema (chronic edema) was developed by the medical advisory committee of the Canadian Lymphedema Framework and is intended specifically to inform Canadian healthcare professionals. Lymphedema is an incurable, chronic inflammatory condition requiring early diagnosis and life-long management. It may lead to complications like cellulitis and can result from obesity or cancer treatments. Treatment entails cleansing, exercise, self-management education, and potential surgical interventions, with resources available through the Canadian Lymphedema Framework.
